  • Safety Inspections and Audits: Perform regular inspections and audits of worksites and equipment, document findings, issue corrective actions, and follow up.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate accidents and near misses, determine root causes, and prepare detailed incident reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Safety Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and industry safety standards and stay updated on regulatory changes.
  • Safety Communication and Promotion: Promote a safety-first culture through meetings, newsletters, posters, and digital signage.

Overview

The Safety Manager I will promote and maintain a culture of safety excellence within the organization. You will be responsible for implementing safety programs, conducting training sessions, and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for safety, strong communication skills, and the ability to engage and inspire others to prioritize safety in the workplace.


Key Responsibilities


  • Safety Program Development:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors.

    • Review and update safety manuals, procedures, and protocols in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and industry best practices.



  • Safety Training and Education:

    • Conduct safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and workshops to educate employees on safety procedures, hazard identification, and accident prevention techniques.

    • Coordinate with department managers to ensure that employees receive job-specific safety training and certifications as required.



  • Safety Inspections and Audits:

    • Conduct regular inspections and audits of worksites, equipment, and facilities to identify potential safety hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance with safety regulations.

    • Document inspection findings, issue corrective actions, and follow up to ensure timely resolution of safety issues.



  • Incident Investigation and Reporting:

    • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and other safety-related incidents to determine root causes, contributing factors, and corrective actions needed to prevent recurrence.

    • Prepare and submit incident reports, including detailed analysis and recommendations for improvement, to management and regulatory agencies as required.



  • Safety Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations, including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) requirements, and industry-specific safety standards.

    • Stay updated on changes to safety regulations and standards and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.



  • Safety Communication and Promotion:

    • Promote a safety-first culture by communicating safety messages, initiatives, and goals through various channels, including safety meetings, newsletters, posters, and digital signage.

    • Encourage employee participation and engagement in safety programs, committees, and activities to create a sense of ownership and accountability for safety.




Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, CHST, CIH) preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in safety management or related roles, Structure/Steel, preferably in the construction or manufacturing industry.

  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software/tools.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to safety management.
