Job description

Overview

Position Overview: Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the company Safety Program. Demonstrates management skills and the ability to oversee all aspects of a project safety program. May serve as the lead safety manager on a project, showing skills comparable to a Safety Manager I, with increasing responsibility and authority.

Location & Travel Details

This is a traveling position, up to 100% of the time, across the US. You will spend approximately 8-12 months per project, with designated daily per diem and the potential for routine travel home. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead the job site safety department, supervising Safety Manager I's, Safety Coordinators, and Specialists.
  2. Set ethical standards and support company values, fostering trust and communication.
  3. Conduct safety checks and take corrective actions to eliminate hazards.
  4. Document daily activities and safety inspections.
  5. Implement and monitor the Safety Program, including Zero Injury System and R4 Program.
  6. Assist in developing site-specific safety and environmental plans.
  7. Manage injury programs and coordinate safety training sessions.
  8. Participate in safety meetings and committees.
  9. Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions.
  10. Maintain safety relations with clients and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  11. Spend approximately 60% of time in the field.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • CHST or BCSP certification preferred; must obtain CHST within one year.
  • 3-5 years of construction safety management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Experience managing safety programs on complex projects.
  • Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and hazard recognition.
  • Certification as OSHA, MSHA, and First Aid instructor preferred.
Working Environment
  • Outdoor weather conditions, exposure to mechanical parts, heights, and heat.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and noise.
