In this position, you will be required to ensure the behavior of the crew (when working on a client site) is in accordance with company safety culture. A qualified candidate understands the lagging and leading safety indicators and promotes a philosophy that achieves established goals. You must have knowledge of job site/area specific safety requirements, safety equipment, material procurement, training requirements, and tracking of training.

Responsibilities as a Safety Manager

Must be able to manage and enforce Site Safety Programs for the assigned project(s) by identifying, eliminating and controlling hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage. By using and enforcing job-specific safety standards, best management practices, and Site-Specific safety program, the Safety Manager shall ensure the safety of all persons and property on the job site resulting in an accident/incident-free project.

Site Details
  • Enforce safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all State, Federal, Local regulations (including OSHA), as well as Site Specific policies and owner/contractual requirements.
  • Conduct daily and/or weekly (as appropriate or specified by job) job site inspections.
  • Record observations from site inspections and complete required reports.
  • Investigate, corroborate, document, all accidents, incidents, and near misses on the jobsite.
  • Recommend and implement corrective action based on policies, guidelines, and laws.
  • Conduct weekly "Toolbox Safety Meeting" and document content and attendance.
  • Conduct Safety Orientation for new employees.
  • Advise project staff on site specific safety issues/guidelines.
  • Evaluate the need for safety training and make recommendations.
  • Paid weekly, per diem available, mobilization pay.
  • Minimum 12-week job.

Minimum Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of Construction Industry methods and OSHA standards.
  • OSHA 30 Construction Industry Certification, OSHA 500 and/or its equivalent.
  • 5-10 years safety experience in the construction industry.
  • Bilingual (Spanish).
  • Basic working knowledge of MS Office and Windows.
