Job summary

Sheakley Workforce Staffing is seeking a Construction Safety Manager to support long-term campus construction projects at UC Santa Barbara. This 12-month, 1099 contractor role focuses on implementing safety programs across commercial building, structural, internal buildout, and MEP work on site.

You will oversee onboarding, JHA development, field observations, audits, and contractor safety compliance while coordinating with project management and trades to maintain OSHA standards and prevent

Responsibilities

• Provide daily field safety oversight for campus construction activities
• Conduct new hire safety orientations and onboarding programs
• Develop, review, and track Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
• Perform routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
• Monitor subcontractor activities and construction operations
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
• Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate corrective actions
• Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
• Lead and attend project safety meetings
• Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors
• Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project

Construction Safety Manager

Location: Santa Barbara, CA
Duration: 12 Months (Start: Immediate Need)
Type: 1099 Contractor

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $65/hr
Per Diem: None
Completion Bonus: $150/month
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Schedule: Monday-Friday | Day Shift | 40 Hours Per Week
Additional Schedule Details: Standard 8-hour shifts supporting long-term campus construction activities.
