Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Construction Safety Manager to lead safety programs across multiple sites in Virginia. You will develop site-specific plans, manage ORM, and deliver comprehensive S&H training including OSHA 10/30 and CPR/FA.

Ideal candidates bring extensive safety management experience, knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70E/NESC, and the ability to mentor safety staff while ensuring regulatory compliance across projects.

Qualifications

  • 13+ years in safety management with a HS diploma or GED.
  • 7+ years with a Bachelor's degree in safety management (electrical exp. preferred).
  • 5+ years with a Master's degree in safety management with S&H training/regulatory compliance exp. (1910, 1926, EM-385).
  • Familiarity with ANSI-Z10, OHSAS 18001, ISO 31000; ASP/CSP/CHST are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Construction Project Safety & Health (S&H) and Risk Management for multiple sites.
  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and ORM processes.
  • Create and deliver safety training plans and curricula (OSHA 10/30, CPR/FA).
  • Interpret electrical safety standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, NESC) and manage NFPA 70E program.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and mentor safety professionals; coordinate updates across the organization.
  • Collaborate with customers, project teams and subcontractors on risk mitigation plans and technical reports.
  • Ensure ongoing regulatory and technical safety compliance across projects.

Responsibilities

The Construction Safety Manager is responsible for oversight of Construction Project Safety and Health (S&H), and Risk Management, effectively managing multiple Safety programs, developing and implementing M.C. Dean site-specific project safety plans, and collaborating with Project Management in the implementation and leadership of the Operational Risk Management (ORM) process.

  • Creating, developing and implementing safety training plans and curriculmns
  • Conducting new hire orienation (OSHA 10, 30 and CPR/FA training)
  • Redesigning training material, programs and the employee expierence in hands-on training
  • Understanding and interpreting electrical safety standards; the National Electric Code (NEC), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)70E, NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) and overseeing and managing the NFPA 70E training program
  • Monitoring and measuring effectiveness of training programs
  • Mentoring safety professionals and cross training with other safety professionals, and communicating updates to safety training material across the organization
  • Remaining current with all regulatory, operational, and technical matters relative to safety management and safety training programs
  • Participating in meetings with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors and advising on project-specific Risk and Hazard mitigation plans, S&H training program, and technical reports

Qualifications

Education / Experience:

  • 13+ years of safety management experience, emphasis on developing and implementation training programs with a high school diploma / GED.
  • 7+ years of experience with a Bachelor\'s degree in safety management discipline (electrial expierence preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience with a Master\'s degree Experience conducting S&H training, Regulatory compliance expert/1910, 1926, EM-385
  • Bachelor\'s degree preferred.
  • Safety Management Systems knowledge, skill and experience ANSI-Z10, OHSAS 18001, ISO 31000
  • Understanding of culture and culture building skills
  • Trainer Designation OSHA 500/502 Safety and Health / Occupational Safety degree from an ABET accredited program Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)
  • Willingness to pursue Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
  • Previous electrical / construction / industrial /federal and commercial S&H experience, Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP)
