Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support our building construction projects and strengthen our proactive safety culture.

Position Summary

The Safety Manager will lead and support safety initiatives across LEMOINE's building construction projects. This individual will partner closely with Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, field personnel, and subcontractors to identify risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote safe work practices throughout every phase of construction.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and experienced safety professional with a strong background in commercial or vertical construction. This individual must be comfortable working in active construction environments, influencing employees at all levels, and providing practical solutions that protect people while supporting successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities
Project Safety Leadership
  • Implement and maintain LEMOINE's safety programs, policies, procedures, and expectations across assigned building construction projects.
  • Serve as the primary safety resource for Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in preconstruction planning, project startup meetings, and high-risk activity planning.
  • Support project leadership in developing site-specific safety plans and emergency response procedures.
  • Promote LEMOINE's safety culture and reinforce accountability at all levels of the project team.
Field Operations and Risk Mitigation
  • Conduct regular project safety inspections, audits, and observations to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor activities involving fall protection, scaffolding, ladders, cranes and rigging, electrical work, excavation, confined spaces, hot work, material handling, and other high-risk operations.
  • Review and support the development of Job Safety Analyses and Job Hazard Analyses for construction activities.
  • Verify that required personal protective equipment is available, properly maintained, and consistently used.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure compliance with project-specific and company-wide expectations.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or behaviors present an immediate risk to employees or the public.
Incident Response and Compliance
  • Lead or assist with incident, injury, near-miss, property damage, and environmental investigations.
  • Complete root-cause analyses and partner with project leadership to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection records, training logs, and incident reports.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and all applicable federal, state, local, client, and company safety requirements.
  • Track safety trends and provide regular reports and recommendations to project and company leadership.
  • Assist with regulatory inspections, client safety audits, and internal compliance reviews.
Training and Development
  • Conduct project safety orientations for employees, subcontractors, and site visitors.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, refresher training, emergency response drills, and task-specific safety training.
  • Coach field employees and subcontractors on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and personal accountability.
  • Support the development of Superintendents, Foremen, and field leaders as active safety leaders.
  • Communicate lessons learned and safety best practices across assigned projects.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Partner with Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to develop proactive safety strategies and engineering controls.
  • Participate in project planning meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and pre-installation meetings for high-risk activities.
  • Build positive working relationships with owners, clients, trade partners, and field personnel.
  • Communicate safety expectations clearly and consistently while maintaining a professional and solutions-focused approach.
  • Support multiple building construction projects as assigned and travel between project locations when required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of construction safety experience, preferably supporting commercial, healthcare, education, federal, or other complex vertical construction projects.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
  • CHST, CSP, STSC, or another recognized safety certification preferred.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and industry safety best practices.
  • Experience managing safety programs involving subcontractors and multiple construction trades.
  • Ability to identify hazards, evaluate risk, and develop practical corrective actions.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear and accurate reports, investigation summaries, and corrective action documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and construction or safety management software.
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management platforms preferred.
  • Experience supporting occupied facilities, healthcare environments, or infection-control requirements is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be physically able to conduct inspections throughout active construction sites.
  • Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and safely navigate stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work areas.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while working in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry safety equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to travel regularly between assigned building construction projects.
