Job summary

Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort is seeking a Safety Manager to lead safety, emergency preparedness, and life safety compliance. Reporting through the Tribal Gaming Agency, the role develops and maintains comprehensive safety programs protecting employees, guests, vendors, the Tribe, and property.

You will oversee inspections, audits, JHAs, risk assessments, and compliance with FED OSHA and NFPA standards, while coordinating emergency drills and responses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience administering OSHA General Industry safety programs, audits, investigations, and compliance.
  • Certifications in ASP/CSP/CIH/OHST and OSHA outreach preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and continuously improve enterprise-wide safety programs, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct inspections, hazard assessments, audits, JHAs, and risk assessments.
  • Evaluate compliance with FED OSHA, Tribal policies, NFPA standards, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness including drills and incident responses.
  • Investigate injuries and near misses; coordinate findings with departments.
  • Serve as liaison during regulatory inspections and monitor regulatory changes.

Job description

Overview

The Safety Manager serves as Jackson Rancheria’s authority for safety, emergency preparedness, and life safety compliance. Reporting through the Tribal Gaming Agency, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving comprehensive safety programs. The Safety Manager functions as a compliance professional responsible for evaluating workplace hazards, conducting inspections and audits, coordinating emergency preparedness, promoting regulatory compliance, and recommending corrective actions that reduce organizational risk while protecting employees, guests, vendors, the Tribe, and property. This position works collaboratively with Human Resources, Casino Security, Tribal Security the and all operating departments while maintaining an independent regulatory oversight role for company’s safety and life safety compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by creating a friendly environment and following Jackson Rancheria Guest Service Guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, administer, and continuously improve enterprise-wide safety programs, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct announced and unannounced inspections, hazard assessments, compliance audits, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments.
  • Evaluate compliance with FED OSHA, applicable regulatory requirements, Tribal policies, compact requirements, NFPA standards, and recognized industry best practices.
  • Issue recommendations for corrective actions, monitor completion, and recommends temporary suspension of work where imminent danger exists.
  • Conduct root cause investigations of injuries, near misses, hazardous conditions, and significant safety events; coordinate findings with appropriate departments.
  • Serve as liaison during regulatory inspections and monitor changes in applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness including Emergency Action Plans, evacuation, fire response, bomb threat, active threat, utility failures, hazardous materials response, shelter-in-place, severe weather, and ics.
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate emergency drills, tabletop exercises, and after-action reviews.
  • Provides oversight and tracking for the fire alarm, fire suppression, extinguishers, and means of egress, emergency lighting, exit signage, occupant loads, fire doors, fire watch procedures, and coordinates with fire authorities.
  • Develop and administer safety programs including Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Confined Space Entry, Machine Guarding, PPE, Walking-Working Surfaces, Ladder Safety, Fall Protection, Welding, Electrical Safety, Heat Illness Prevention, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Contractor Safety, Roofing, Painting Operations, Food & Beverage Safety, Kitchen Safety, Burn Prevention, Knife Safety, Hotel Operations Safety, Housekeeping & Laundry Safety, Indoor Air Quality, Casino Operations Safety, Public & Guest Safety, Crowd Management, Entertainment Venue Safety, Warehouse & Receiving Safety, Material Handling, Loading Dock Safety, and Hazardous Materials Management.
  • Develops and/or assist in the required safety trainings including OSHA programs, emergency response, fire extinguisher use, forklift certification, PPE, hazard communication, heat illness prevention, active threat awareness, incident reporting, and department-specific safety training.
  • Develop and administer contractor safety requirements and compliance monitoring.
  • Develop, maintain, implement, and continuously improve the organization’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Develop and administer routine workplace safety inspection programs and ensure timely correction of identified hazards.
  • Analyze incident trends, inspection findings, near misses, and other safety metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and risk reduction.
  • Develop and distribute safety communications, alerts, and educational materials to promote awareness of workplace hazards and organizational safety initiatives.
  • Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert on safety, regulatory compliance, and emergency preparedness by providing guidance and recommendations to leadership.
  • Build collaborative relationships with employees, managers, regulatory agencies, and emergency response partners to support organizational safety and emergency readiness.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness documentation and safety records as assigned.
Qualifications

The ability to obtain and maintain a Jackson Rancheria Gaming License.

  • Bachelor's degree in any of the following: Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Health (occupational safety emphasis), or related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible safety experience in a complex multi-department environment.
  • Experience administering OSHA General Industry safety programs, conducting audits, investigations, JHAs, training, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification (or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire).

  • Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer for General Industry (commonly referred to as OSHA 500)

  • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification, as applicable to assigned responsibilities

Pay range: $90,000 to $117,000 per year

*Shift Differential:Non-Exempt employees will receive a $1.00 per hour shift differential for any hours worked between 10:00pm and 6:00am.
