Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Safety Manager to deliver proactive safety management across regions and field operations. The role involves evaluating safety programs, executing corrective actions, and leading trainings for employees and customers.

Key duties include coordinating inspections, investigating incidents, and driving safety initiatives aligned with corporate policies. Requires knowledge of safety laws, problem-solving methods, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support branch staff to evaluate safety programs and develop corrective action plans
• Assist region with safety training for employees and customers
• Motivate and develop field personnel to sustain safety programs
• Support Operations Management’s CSR commitments and program performance
• Manage and communicate regulatory inspections or site visits to Senior Leadership
• Conduct annual Location Safety Evaluations, prepare reports and action plans
• Evaluate and conduct employee incident investigations and corrective actions
• Liaise with internal departments or external authorities for audits and remedial actions
• Assist in safety requirements at location startups
• Develop personal and professional skills through ongoing training
• Handle other projects as designated by Supervisor

Job Purpose

Primarily responsible for providing effective safety management services for all Region and Field employees by utilizing professional workplace safety problem-solving and relationship skills. Proactively applies knowledge of safety regulations/standards as well as policies and procedures, as well as knowledge of company products and services. Assists other Safety Managers as needed and Field employees on safety and health matters.

What you will do...

• Supports the branch staff to evaluate their safety program, develop corrective action plans, and carry out/follow-up action plans. Evaluates status of progress toward meeting safety program objectives and initiates appropriate actions.
• Assists the region at all levels with preparation and delivery of formal and informal safety training to Herc Rentals employees and customers at customer locations.
• Motivate and develop field personnel to sustain Herc Rentals’ safety programs across scope of operation.
• Supports Operations Management’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and expected performance of program.
• Manages and communicates Regulatory Agency inspections or site visits to Senior Leadership.
• Conducts/Coordinates annual Location Safety Evaluations, prepares detailed reports, assists location management with action plan development and conducts follow-up actions until complete.
• Evaluates and conducts employee incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Liaison as necessary with other internal departments or external organizations/relevant authorities, and provides assistance and cooperation concerning audits and remedial actions.
• Assists in the safety requirements at location startups.
• Develops personal and professional skills and capability through on-going training, as provided by the company or elsewhere such as meetings, conferences, seminars as determined by the Safety Department.
• Other projects as designated by direct Supervisor.

Education:

Associate or Bachelor's - Safety, or related field; proven progress toward completion of an AA/AS or BA/BS

Pay Range:Base Salary $100,000 - $125,000 + annual bonus + truck
