Job summary

Exceed Safety is seeking a Safety Manager to oversee the EHS program at the field level for 5 branches across NC, SC, and VA. The role involves site visits, training and coaching of field staff, and ensuring safety compliance.

The ideal candidate has construction safety experience, relevant certifications, and the ability to work with leadership and clients. Travel is required, with a report line to the Safety Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety or 7+ years as Safety Professional with CHST substitute accepted.
• Must have construction industry experience.
• FA/CPR/AED certification required.
• OSHA 30 hour for construction required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean MVR; background checks and drug testing.
• E-Verify employment eligibility.
• Prefer Charlotte, NC area residence.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site inspections and safety audits across multiple sites.
• Ensure safety compliance and project safety adherence.
• Review site forms and safety data.
• Assist with JHA and safety observations.
• Ensure subcontractors follow OSHA and PSG policies.
• Monitor safety-critical task performance and coach staff.
• Collaborate with Contractors to implement best practices.
• Lead safety investigations for incidents and near-misses.
• Provide safety orientations and training (Forklift, Scissor lift, Fall protection, CPR).

Our client is seeking a Safety Manager to manage the EHS program at the field level for 5 branches in the NC, SC and VA area. This would include documented site visits, training and coaching of the field staff.

The candidate

The role reports to the Safety Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a safety related field or this may be substituted for 7 years’ experience as a full time Safety Professionaland a certification such as the CHST.
• Experience within the Construction Industry is a must.
• Must be FA/CPR/AED certified.
• Must have at least an OSHA 30 hour for construction.
• Valid Driver’s License and MVR check.
• Criminal Justice Background Check (state and federal)
• Drug Test (10-panel)
• E-Verify
• Ideally the candidate would live in the Charlotte, NC area.

Additional qualifications a plus

• Experience within General Industry is a plus.
• Having an OSHA 500 is a plus. Authorized Osha instructor for Construction.
• HVAC experience is a plus.
• CPR instructor is a plus.

Responsibilities

• On-site Inspections and Safety Audits
• Ensure project safety adherence, performance and compliance.
• Review project site forms and data.
• Help all to perform JHA and Safety Observations.
• Ensures all subcontractors are following OSHA and PSG policies at a minimum.
• Monitor the performance of safety critical tasks.
• Work with the Contractor to ensure proper safety best practices are being implemented.
• Represent PSG’s best interest always related to site health and safety.
• Follows up on safety incidents, near misses and conduct investigations.
• Conduct Safety Orientation for personnel as needed.
• Provide training in areas such as Forklift, Scissor lifts, Fall protection and CPR.

Physical Demands

• Regularly uses hands and fingers to operate objects, tools or controls. Frequently required to stand, talk and hear for long periods of time. Lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to move intermittently throughout the day with walking, standing, bending, and reaching.
• This position may require employee to sit at a computer station/desk for prolonged periods of time up to 8 hours a day.
• The employee is regularly required to read, count and write to accurately complete documentation required for position.
• Driving/travel will be required for this position.
