Job summary

Austin Commercial is seeking a Safety Manager for the Austin, Texas Division to lead the site safety program, educate staff on federal, state and local laws, and ensure compliance with safety policies. You will coordinate with owners, subcontractors and vendors, and drive safety culture across projects.

The role requires OSHA certifications, BCSP credentials, construction safety expertise, and strong communication skills to conduct trainings and investigations.

Qualifications

• OSHA 510 certification (less than five years old).
• Authorized OSHA 500 Trainer.
• Five years of current General Contractor experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
• BCSP Certification (SMS, CHST, ASP, CSP) + three years of current General Contractor experience.
• OSHA 500 preferred.
• BSCP Certification preferred.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
• SWPP knowledge.
• Advanced knowledge of construction processes and procedures.
• Proficient in relevant software.
• Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities; able to have effective crucial conversations.

Responsibilities

• Builds working relationships with project staff and subcontractor safety representatives.
• Creates accurate safety reports and accident investigation documents.
• Provides and participates in staff safety training and subcontractor development; possesses strong presentation skills.
• Represents company in a positive and professional manner with owner and subcontractors.
• Creates and facilitates safety training on a variety of subjects that align with particular project schedules.
• Builds and maintains relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, architects, etc.).
• Participates in safety organizations outside of the company and in assigned region.
• Ensures compliance with the company’s current safety manual, policies and expectations.
