Job summary

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is seeking a Safety Manager to lead safety on our Central Texas project sites in Austin. You will monitor all safety and health activities, enforce the company safety program, and support the Project Team in maintaining a healthy, accident-free workplace.

The role requires extensive field safety experience, hands-on training of crew on safe practices, and strong knowledge of OSHA standards. This is a full-time on-site position with the BC safety team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years dedicated safety experience on a commercial construction jobsite.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety programs.
  • Experience conducting site safety orientations and inspections.
  • Ability to enforce safety policies and implement corrective actions.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce the Site-Specific Safety Plan and Emergency Action Plan.
  • Conduct site safety orientation for all new employees.
  • Enforce the Disciplinary Action Policy and document safety violations.
  • Conduct weekly site safety inspections and coordinate with Regional/Corporate resources.
  • Assist in accident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Support weekly job-site safety inspections with Project Team.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance for all work activities.
  • Educate and coach trade partners through safety talks.
  • Identify unsafe acts/conditions and ensure immediate corrective actions.

Job description

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is currently seeking a Safety Manager to join our Central Texas team in Austin! As the lead field safety position in the Safety Department, the Safety Manager is responsible for monitoring all safety and health related activities on the project site and for enforcing the policies and procedures outlined in the company safety program. The Safety Manager assists the Project Team to maintain a healthy and accident-free workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in enforcing the Site-Specific Safety Plan and Emergency Action Plan
  • Conduct site safety orientation for all new employees to review safe practices required on the project and by the Company
  • Enforce the Disciplinary Action Policy and document safety violations or unsafe conditions/activities and ensure corrective measures are implemented
  • Conduct weekly site safety inspections and periodically conduct safety inspections with Regional and Corporate resources, or Owners Representatives
  • Assist in accident investigations and Root Cause Analysis
  • Assists the project team in completing weekly job-site safety inspections
  • Assists Project Team in ensuring OSHA compliance for all aspects of work activities
  • Assists Project Team with following the company procedures for OSHA inspections
  • Educate and coach trade partners through on-the-spot training and toolbox safety talks
  • Continuously focused on identifying unsafe acts or unsafe conditions and ensuring immediate corrective actions are taken
  • Assists project team in conducting weekly job-wide safety meetings
  • Assists in scheduling safety training for job-site personnel
  • Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, values, and goals (the BC Way)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years dedicated safety experience on a commercial construction jobsite.
  • Must have practical knowledge, work experience, and documented continuing education in areas such as:
    • Fall Protection
    • Scaffold Systems
    • Excavation
    • Confined Space in Construction
    • Cranes and Rigging
    • Equipment operations
    • Electrical
    • Incident/Accident Investigation
    • Steel Erection, Tilt wall Construction
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish is a plus
  • OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer or 502 Outreach Trainer Refresher certifications are preferred with a current certification within the last 4 years.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Minimum of OSHA 510 Standards for Construction Industry.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification within the past 2 years.
