Job summary

Sheakley Workforce Staffing seeks a Safety Manager for a 3‑month, 1099 contractor assignment in Atlantic City, NJ. You will provide hands-on safety oversight for structural steel, rebar, dredging, and civil construction on a major Army Corps of Engineers project.

Rotating 12-hour shifts with approximately 60 hours per week. Local pay is $56/hr or $52/hr plus $140/day per diem for travelers, plus a $150/month completion bonus. Weekly pay and overtime may apply.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification and 5+ years of construction safety experience.
• Experience supporting structural steel, civil, marine, or heavy construction.
• Ability to work extended schedules and rotating shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily field safety oversight for structural steel, rebar, fabrication, dredging, and civil construction activities.
• Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas.
• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
• Monitor steel erection, excavation, marine operations, and heavy equipment activities.
• Review JHAs, AHAs, permits, and pre-task plans.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements.
• Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions.
• Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel.
• Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors.
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
• Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $56/hr (Local Candidates) OR $52/hr + $140/day Per Diem (Travelers)
Per Diem: $140/day (Non-Local Candidates)
Completion Bonus: $150/month

Additional Schedule Details: Rotating 12-hour shifts. Available shifts include 12:00 PM-12:00 AM and 12:00 AM-12:00 PM. Overtime and extended schedules may be required based on project needs.
