Choate Construction Company is seeking a Safety Manager to serve as a visible safety leader on active commercial job sites. You will coordinate safety requirements, partner with field teams and subs, and deliver site-specific orientations and ongoing training to uphold high safety standards.
You will conduct documented weekly inspections, identify trends, and address risks to ensure safe work practices and accountability across the project team.
As a Safety Manager, you are a visible leader on the jobsite, helping ensure everyone goes home safe each day. You are responsible for coordinating and executing safety requirements on your assigned project while partnering closely with field teams and subcontractors to promote safe work practices and shared accountability. This role leads the implementation of site‑specific safety orientations, reinforces expectations through daily presence, and conducts documented weekly safety inspections to identify and address potential risks. By guiding teams and setting clear standards, the Safety Manager helps build a strong safety culture where safe behavior is embedded in how the work gets done—not just on the jobsite, but beyond it because we only live one life and protecting our people is non‑negotiable.
You can demonstrate you have championed Safety as an onsite leader on a consistent basis. You are highly visible on active commercial jobsites, regularly walking the work, engaging with trade partners, and addressing hazards related to heavy equipment, crane activity, fall protection, and material handling before they elevate. You lead and deliver site‑specific safety orientations and ongoing training, ensuring every worker—employee or subcontractor—understands project rules, high‑risk activities, and expectations before work begins. You conduct thorough, documented weekly safety inspections, identifying trends, correcting deficiencies, and following up to ensure issues are resolved and standards are maintained. You partner closely with project teams and subcontractors to plan safe work for critical activities such as concrete pours, steel erection, confined space work, and elevated work. You know how to enforce safety requirements consistently and respectfully, holding teams accountable while maintaining strong working relationships on site. You take ownership of the jobsite safety culture, helping crews understand that safe work practices are not just required—and essential to delivering quality commercial projects on schedule and without incident.
