Job summary

IES Infrastructure is seeking a proactive Safety Manager to lead safety and compliance at our Abilene, TX manufacturing facility. You will develop and implement programs to ensure a safe, compliant workplace for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Responsibilities include policy development, inspections, audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, training delivery, and metrics reporting to leadership, with emphasis on OSHA/EPA regulations and a strong safety culture across shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a safety/environmental/engineering field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in safety management in manufacturing/industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910 regulations and industrial safety.
• Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce safety policies compliant with OSHA/EPA regulations.
• Lead programs such as LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication, PPE, and Machine Guarding.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and JHAs.

• Coordinate and deliver safety training for employees and contractors.
• Monitor safety metrics and report to senior leadership.

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Manager to lead our safety and compliance efforts at our manufacturing facility located in Abilene, TX The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).


• Lead and manage programs such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication, PPE, and Machine Guarding.


• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).


• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.


• Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and training in accordance with regulatory requirements.


• Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for new hires, ongoing employee development, and contractors.


• Monitor and report safety metrics (e.g., TRIR, DART, near-miss trends) to senior leadership.


• Promote a strong safety culture across all shifts and departments through leadership, visibility, and engagement.


• Prepare for and manage emergency response situations; coordinate with external agencies as needed.


• Ensure proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and PPE.


• Manage workers' compensation cases and coordinate with HR and insurance providers as necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).


• 5+ years of safety management experience in a manufacturing, steel, automotive, or industrial environment.


• In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1910 regulations and best practices in industrial safety.


• Strong understanding of environmental health and safety standards, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics.


• Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.


• Proficient in incident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies.
