Job summary

Scale in San Francisco is seeking a Safety Coordinator / Lab Lead to anchor our physical testing operations. You will own end-to-end safety audits, incident documentation, RCA, and CAPA in a fast-paced research environment.

You will collaborate with hardware and software engineers to manage lab spaces, equipment, and safety compliance while building standardized processes and a proactive safety culture across facilities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in lab management, safety coordination, or technical operations within a robotics, aerospace, automotive, or autonomous R&D environment.
• Experience designing structured audit workflows and incident documentation pipelines (familiarity with OSHA/ISO robotics safety standards is valued).
• Comfort working with complex physical hardware, sensors, and compute rigs.
• Exceptional written communication to enforce safety protocols across a fast-moving engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design, schedule, and execute routine safety audits across physical testing environments and hardware workspaces.
• Own end-to-end incident management: documentation, archiving, and analysis of lab incidents and near-misses.
• Lead root-cause analysis and implement CAPAs.
• Track safety data, metrics, and audit trends to mitigate hazards.
• Build tools and processes to standardize safe work practices across multiple facilities.
