Current M-DCPS employees do not need to submit official transcripts if highest degree earned is on file in the Office of Personnel Records (305-995-7258). For external candidates, official transcripts will be required if you are recommended for the position. Your degree must be from an accredited university. If the position does not require a college degree, you are required to have at least a high school diploma. Candidates with academic training and degrees granted outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation report that includes a statement of degree equivalency from an accredited agency in the U.S.

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Conducts regularly scheduled safety and health audits of School Board facilities and investigates accidents.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

• 1. Inspects, on a regular basis, Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) facilities to determine extent of compliance with State Board of Education and School Board, fire, casualty and safety rules.
• 2. Investigates accidents or suspected hazardous conditions.
• 3. Recommends corrective and/or preventive action to be taken for safety.
• 4. Maintains data processing input for safety records and reports.
• 5. Complies with safety rules, procedures, and federal, state, and School Board policies.
• 6. Performs other duties related to general administrative responsibilities of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This work requires the following physical activities: sitting, mobility, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• 1. Bachelor's degree with specialization in health, safety physical sciences or related field; minimum of three (3) years experience in detailed building safety inspections involving casualty, fire and health/sanitation areas and Firesafety Inspector I certification from the State of Florida
• OR
• Certification as a State of Florida Firesafety Inspector I and five (5) years documented building, asbestos, safety or environmental inspections experience.
• 2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
