Job summary

Impellam Group is seeking a Safety Specialist to promote and maintain a safe work environment across multiple facilities in the United States. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, ensuring OSHA compliance, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field and 2+ years of experience, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in safety, health, or a related field.
• 2+ years of workplace safety, EHS, manufacturing, construction, or industrial experience.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management principles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety audits to identify hazards.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable regulations.
• Coordinate and deliver safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and prepare management reports.
• Assist in emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities.
• Conduct JSAs and risk assessments.
• Promote a positive safety culture with supervisors and management.
• Maintain records related to training, inspections, incidents, and compliance.

Job description

The Safety Specialist is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, policies, and procedures. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while supporting employees and management in identifying and minimizing workplace hazards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-miss events and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and deliver safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Monitor and document safety performance metrics and prepare reports for management.
• Assist in emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities.
• Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and risk assessments.
• Partner with supervisors and management to promote a positive safety culture.
• Maintain records related to training, inspections, incidents, and regulatory compliance.
• Facilitate safety committee meetings and employee engagement initiatives.
• Recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions for identified safety concerns.
• Support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives as required.
• Assist in the oversight of safety issues for various construction locations.

Requirements - education & experience

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in workplace safety, EHS, manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to walk production floors, construction sites, or industrial facilities for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• May require occasional travel between facilities or worksites.
