Job summary

Chimes is seeking a Safety Manager to oversee the safety of employees, subcontractors, and the public during custodial and other Chimes DC operations. The role enforces safety programs, coordinates with the QA & Compliance and Training teams, and conducts regular safety assessments to prevent incidents.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in professional safety and health, experience with hospital standards, OSHA, and DOT/EPA regulations, and is proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional safety and health experience.
• Experience with hospital standards and facility management preferred.
• Experience with OSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure safety of employees, subcontractors, and the public during Chimes DC operations.
• Enforce safety programs and federal/state/local safety standards.
• Assist the Corporate Director of Quality Assurance & Compliance and Training in safety program development and coordination.
• Assist in development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
• Advise on safety compliance concerns and preventive actions.
• Perform quarterly safety surveys and prepare reports with corrective actions.
• Develop annual plans to meet regulatory and contractual health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate safety training with the training team and ensure documentation and recertification.
• Conduct job hazard and risk assessments and report findings to leadership.
• Ensure PPE program compliance and on-site security requirements.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

What You'll Do:

Essential Functions:

• Oversee and ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors and the general public during custodial and other Chimes DC operations.
• Enforce corporate and project specific safety and health programs as well as federal, state and local safety standards.
• Assist the Corporate Director of Quality Assurance & Compliance and the Training Department in the development and coordination of project specific safety programs.
• Assists the Corporate Director Quality Assurance & Compliance in development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
• Advises the Corporate Director of Quality Assurance & Compliance on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
• Performs quarterly safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective action or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
• Provides annual plan delineating how Chimes DC will meet all regulatory and other contractual requirements for health, safety, and the environment.
• Collaborates with Chimes training team regarding safety training, as needed. Monitors and distributes contents of classroom training to ensure compliance. Teaches classes as required. Schedules and conducts re-cert and re-training.
• Conducts regular job hazard assessments and risk assessments and reports findings to the Corporate Director of Quality Assurance & Compliance and Chimes Corporate Management.
• Ensures and facilitates compliance with Chimes International and Chimes DC’s PPE program.
• Complies with and ensures employee compliance with all security requirements on-site.
• May supervise employees with safety responsibilities. Supervisory responsibility may range from providing work guidance related to safety and handling employee safety complaints; recommending to HR discipline; and monitoring legal compliance measures with regard to safety and risk.
• Conducts OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour classes as required.
• May modify with the approval of the Corporate Director of Quality Assurance & Compliance and Director of Training, where applicable safety training content either personally or through staff, based on company policy, region goals and location contractual requirements.
• In the event the Corporate Director of Quality Assurance & Compliance is unavailable, could be asked to coordinate third party reviews with OSHA or other governing bodies.

Education:

• Undergraduate degree in a safety or related field preferred
• CPR First-Aid Instructor preferred, or willingness to obtain
• Current OSHA Authorized General Industry Outreach Trainer authorization (OSHA #501), with demonstrated ability to conduct OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour General
• Must maintain OSHA General Industry Outreach Trainer authorization, including completion of OSHA #503 – Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers within OSHA-required renewal periods. Industry Outreach Training and issue OSHA course completion cards in accordance with OSHA Outreach Training Program requirements.
• Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues

Experience:

• 5 years professional safety and health experience required
• Previous experience of hospital standards and facility management preferred
• Previous experience in OSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements preferred
• Previous experience working with CIMS certified facilities preferred
• Previous experience conducting safety training preferred
• Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Valid driver’s license from state of residence and ability to drive if needed
• License must have been valid for at least 3 years
• If driving a 15 passenger van, must be at least 25 years old
• Acceptable driving record as determined by Agency’s insurance carrier and by Chimes DC policies and procedures
