Job summary

Woodgrain in Independence, VA is seeking a Sawmill Production Associate to reliably handle, flip, inspect, and sort lumber on a conveyor to ensure product finish quality. The role reports to the Sawmill Production Manager and emphasizes safety and efficient operation within a sawmill environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, lockout/tagout training, and the ability to move heavy boards.

Qualifications

• Must be SAFETY minded in a production environment.
• Lifting and physical activity are required for this position.
• Lock out/Tag out trained.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Use PPE at all times.
• Maintain feed chain conveyors to prevent boards from becoming crossed up or jammed to allow the line to run continually throughout the shift.
• Handle boards by flipping, inspecting, and sorting lumber.
• Ensure chains and guards are in place to maximize safety in the work area.
• Keep work area clear of wood and debris.
• Occasionally operate a chain saw.
