Job summary

Woodgrain in Independence, VA is seeking a Sawmill Production Associate. The role involves handling, flipping, inspecting, and sorting lumber on a conveyor to ensure product quality and determine if it proceeds to the next processing step.

You will work under the Sawmill Production Manager, adhere to safety standards, operate equipment and move lumber as required, with a focus on maintaining a safe, efficient production line in a busy sawmill environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Lock out/Tag out trained.
• Safety minded in a production environment.
• Must be able to move boards and wood pieces up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Maintain feed chain conveyors to prevent boards from becoming crossed up or jammed.
• Handle boards by flipping, inspecting, and sorting lumber.
• Ensure chains and guards are in place to help make the work area as safe as possible.
• Keep work area clear of wood and debris.
• Occasionally operate a chain saw.
