Description

Are You Ready to Change the Industry Together?

Miles Ahead Brands (MAB) is a family of like-minded brands committed to raising the standard of service and driving the aggregate transportation industry into the future. MAB is a growth services team dedicated to driving results and enabling growth for all our partner logistics brands across the south and southeast of the United States.

We are seeking a dedicated Safety & Field Manager to lead safety operations and field compliance for our Texas Market (CKJ Transport) while aligning with MAB’s centralized processes and operational standards. This role is essential in enforcing fleet safety, ensuring DOT and OSHA compliance, leading hauler training and coaching programs, and supporting sub-hauler onboarding and field operations across the market. As the safety lead for Texas, you will collaborate closely with the General Manager and centralized Safety & Compliance teams to protect our haulers, reduce risk, and drive operational excellence.

  • Mission: We are a family of brands committed to raising the standard of service in the aggregate distribution industry.
  • Vision: Accelerating the world’s infrastructure.
Our Values
  • 1% Better, Every Day: Continuous growth is a part of who we are as professionals and people. We are committed to being better today than yesterday, so we are ready for who our organization needs us to be tomorrow.
  • Promise & Deliver: Pick up the phone, respond, then get it done. We are reliable in every sense of the word and deliver quality work and customer service no matter our role. We own our areas and are accountable to ourselves and each other to build trust.
  • Find a Way or Make a Way: There is no problem we can’t solve. We work together and do hard things to simplify the lives of clients, haulers and each other. We find the best way and are open-minded to innovation, technology and new ways of working because we are building an organization to change our industry.
  • Candid, but Kind: We tell each other the truth and challenge when we don’t agree. We build real relationships rooted in kindness and thoughtfulness. Our people will always be our #1 unique and we will never lose sight of that.
  • Rev it Up: Positive energy fuels us to get us to our vision. Each of us contribute to our culture by bringing consistent energy and passion that ripples through our teams like a fire. We celebrate and praise each other’s contributions and strive to create a place we all want to be.
Who You Are:

You are an experienced safety and field operations professional with a strong background in DOT/FMCSA compliance, driver coaching, and fleet safety management. You thrive in the field, conducting ride-alongs, performing inspections, and building trust with independent contractor (“IC”) haulers and sub-haulers. Your attention to detail, accountability mindset, and ability to investigate incidents and implement corrective action make you a critical line of defense for our Texas market.

Why This Role Matters:

As the Safety & Field Manager for Texas, you are the frontline protector of our haulers and the communities we operate in. By enforcing safety standards, driving compliance, and supporting a culture of accountability, you will directly reduce risk exposure, protect MAB’s operating authority, and build the trust that keeps haulers on the road and customers satisfied. Your presence in the field makes the difference between a safe, high-performing market and one that operates in constant reaction mode.

Who Your Internal Customers Are and How This Role Delivers Value to Them:
  • General Manager: Provides real-time safety performance visibility, flags risk, and supports market-level operational decisions.
  • Dispatch & Operations Teams: Ensures IC haulers and sub-haulers are qualified, compliant, and ready for dispatch; resolves field issues in real time.
  • Centralized Safety & Compliance (MAB): Serves as the market-level execution arm for company-wide safety programs, policies, and reporting standards.
  • IC Haulers & Sub-Haulers: Supports onboarding onto MAB technologies, builds relationships, and provides coaching that improves performance and retention.
Your Impact:
Fleet Safety & DOT/OSHA Compliance
  • Enforce fleet safety standards and ensure all operations comply with DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations in the Texas market.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, hauler ride-alongs, and field observations to identify and correct at‑risk behaviors.
  • Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and escalated violations in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintain fleet maintenance logs and ensure work orders are completed accurately and on time.
Hauler Safety Programs & Coaching
  • Lead hauler safety training programs and deliver consistent, documented coaching sessions using Samsara telematics and safety event data.
  • Identify high-risk drivers through safety scorecard trends and proactively intervene to address behavior patterns before they escape.
  • Foster a culture of safety and accountability across all IC haulers and sub‑haulers in the Texas market.
  • Address hauler concerns and build positive working relationships that improve performance, retention, and compliance.
Incident Investigation & Reporting
  • Investigate accidents and safety incidents; prepare accurate, thorough reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate post-incident drug testing decisions and work with the centralized claims team on documentation and follow‑up.
  • Track open corrective actions and ensure timely resolution across the market.
  • Report safety performance KPIs to MAB’s centralized safety leadership on a regular cadence.
Hauler Onboarding & Field Support
  • Support IC hauler and sub-hauler onboarding, including orientation to MAB safety policies and technology platforms (NewMile, Samsara).
  • Troubleshoot technology issues in the field and serve as a subject matter expert for safety and dispatch tools.
  • Verify driver qualification documentation for IC haulers and equipment compliance before being cleared for dispatch.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with sub‑haulers, fostering trust and long‑term partnership in the DFW and North Texas markets.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Prior Experience in transportation safety, fleet compliance, or DOT/FMCSA regulatory environments strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and Hours of Service (HOS) regulations required.
  • Strong field presence — comfortable conducting ride‑alongs, truck and trailer inspections, site visits, and in‑person coaching in the DFW and North Texas region.
  • Proficiency in safety and telematics platforms (Samsara or equivalent) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of and willingness to use Ai tools such as Claude preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with drivers, sub‑haulers, and internal teams.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
