Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking an Equipment Safety Engineer III to join our Rocket Motor Systems team at the McHenry, MS facility. You will help ensure automation equipment meets the highest safety standards during design, commissioning, and validation.

This role focuses on hazard analyses, safety system validation, regulatory compliance, and incident investigations, with opportunities to obtain safety certifications and work with cutting-edge defense technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in robotics/controls/mechanical/ manufacturing engineering or similar.
• 2+ years of machine safety experience in a production environment.
• Familiar with ISO 12100, ISO 13849, and ANSI B11 standards.
• CAD experience with NX, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Support machine safety efforts for manufacturing & production equipment at Anduril’s McHenry, MS facility.
• Serve as a safety resource during design, commissioning, and validation of automated production equipment.
• Conduct hazard analyses and risk assessments; support safety buyoffs for various equipment.
• Specify and validate safety systems such as E-stops, scanners, light curtains, and interlocks.
• Investigate safety incidents and implement corrective actions; ensure regulatory compliance.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril’s Rocket Motor Systems team is seeking a Equipment Safety Engineer III to join our team. The Rocket Motor Systems team is designing and commissioning automated equipment for high rate production of Solid Rocket Motors at our plant in McHenry, MS. In this role, you will help to ensure automation equipment is designed, validated, and operated to the highest safety standards.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Support machine safety efforts for manufacturing & process equipment at Anduril’s Solid Rocket Motor production facility in McHenry, MS
• Serve as a safety resource during design, commissioning, and validation of automated / semi-automated production equipment
• Conduct hazard analysis / risk assessments and support safety buyoff for equipment including conveyance, robotics, process equipment, and lifting systems
• Specify and validate safety systems including E-Stops, scanners, light curtains, door interlocks, and other relevant hardware
• Investigate and provide corrective actions for equipment safety failures or workplace injuries
• Ensure regulatory compliance for production equipment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics/Controls, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar
• 2+ years of machine safety experience in a production environment
• Working knowledge of selection, integration, and validation of safety hardware
• Familiar with machine safety standards such as ISO 12100, ISO 13849, and ANSI B11
• Familiar with CAD packages including NX, Solidworks, or AutoCAD
• Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of machine safety experience in a production environment
• Functional Safety certification (TUV Rheinland, TUV SUD, or CMSE [TUV NORD]), or willingness to obtain one
• Experience with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing
• Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies and safety committees
• Experience with energetic or other highly hazardous production processes

US Salary Range

$100,000 — $147,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
