Job summary

Anduril Industries’ Rocket Motor Systems team in McHenry, MS is seeking a Senior Equipment Safety Engineer to lead machine safety for high-rate production of solid rocket motors.

You will act as the safety expert during design, commissioning and validation of automated equipment, define standards, perform hazard analyses, and ensure regulatory compliance of production equipment. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 3+ years in machine safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics/Controls, Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 3+ years of machine safety experience in a production environment.
• Certified safety expert: CMSE or TÜV Functional Safety for Machinery Engineer/Engineer.
• Knowledge of safety hardware selection, integration and validation.

Responsibilities

• Lead machine safety for manufacturing equipment at the McHenry, MS plant.
• Serve as safety expert in design, commissioning and validation of automated equipment.
• Define applicable safety standards, perform hazard analyses and safety buyoff.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril’s Rocket Motor Systems team is seeking a Senior Equipment Safety Engineer to join our team. The Rocket Motor Systems team is designing and commissioning automated equipment for high rate production of Solid Rocket Motors at our plant in McHenry, MS. In this role, you will help to ensure automation equipment is designed, validated, and operated to the highest safety standards.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Lead machine safety efforts for manufacturing & process equipment at Anduril’s Solid Rocket Motor production facility in McHenry, MS
• Be the safety expert during design, commissioning, and validation of automated / semi-automated production equipment
• Determine the relevant safety standards, conduct hazard analysis / risk assessments, and perform safety buyoff for equipment including conveyance, robotics, process equipment, and lifting systems
• Architect safety systems including E-Stops, scanners, light curtains, door interlocks, and other relevant hardware
• Investigate and provide corrective actions for equipment safety failures or workplace injuries
• Ensure regulatory compliance for production equipment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics/Controls, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar
• 3+ years of machine safety experience in a production environment
• Must have completed one of the following certifications: Functional Safety [TUV Rheinland] for Machinery Engineer, Functional Safety Engineer [TUV SUD], or Certified Machinery Safety Expert (CMSE) [TUV NORD]
• Deep knowledge in selection, integration, and validation of safety hardware
• Familiar with CAD packages including NX, Solidworks, or AutoCAD
• Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of machine safety experience in a production environment
• Experience with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing
• Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies and safety committees
• Experience with energetic or other highly hazardous production processes

US Salary Range

$126,000 - $167,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
