Job summary

Knife River Corporation in Oregon is seeking a Safety and Environmental Resources Coordinator to help manage site safety programs and coordinate environmental reporting. You will support required training, maintain logs, and ensure practical plant-level safety expectations are met.

The role reports to the Site Operations Manager and the KRPI Safety and Environmental Manager, with a Pay for Skill structure and opportunities to advance through training and certification.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of safety, environmental, manufacturing, or construction experience.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs.
  • Must have, or obtain OSHA 10 within four weeks of start date
  • Must have, or obtain OSHA 30 within twelve weeks of start date
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, or incident investigations.
  • Strong communication and training skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry/reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support KRPI and Knife River safety and environmental improvement plans.
  • Manage site-level safety program activities, training logs, program owners, and awareness-level training.
  • Maintain strong presence in plant, yard, shop, and production areas to identify hazards, coach safe behavior, and reinforce expectations.

  • Support OSHA, state, local, environmental, permit, stormwater, wastewater, spill prevention, and company compliance.
  • Coordinate environmental reporting with Knife River's Environmental, Permitting & Property Manager.

Job description

The Safety and Environmental Resources Coordinator helps manage site-level safety programs, coordinate environmental reporting, support required training, and sustain practical plant-based safety expectations. This hourly role reports to the Site Operations Manager, with additional accountability to the KRPI Safety and Environmental Manager role. The position is part of KRPI’s Pay for Skill structure and requires operational credibility, training capability, documentation discipline, and hands‑on follow‑through.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support KRPI and Knife River safety and environmental improvement plans.
  • Manage site-level safety program activities, training logs, program owners, and awareness-level training.
  • Maintain strong presence in plant, yard, shop, and production areas to identify hazards, coach safe behavior, and reinforce expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in prestressed/precast concrete, manufacturing, or construction materials.
  • Safety certification or progress toward certification (e.g. CSP or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting environmental compliance programs.
  • Knowledge of lockout/tagout, fall protection, mobile equipment, and machine guarding.
  • Experience delivering safety orientations or training sessions.
  • Spanish language ability is advantageous.

  • Pay for Skill advancement, annual COLA review, and $1.00/hour seniority premium for each 10 years of full-time service.
