Job summary

S&C Electric Company is hiring a Safety & Environmental Specialist to join the Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental Services team in Chicago. You will lead safety and environmental programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and advise leadership on risk management.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, strong incident investigation skills, and experience with EHS software. Travel to other sites may be required; join us to protect workers and the environment while supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and/or related field.
• Sustained high-level performance in safety/environmental functions.
• Experience with Enterprise EHS Management Software.
• Incident investigation with risk assessment and root cause analysis.
• Experience in Low Voltage Safety (LOTO) and NFPA 70E.
• Ability to manage multiple safety/environmental projects.
• Proven ability to design and deliver training.
• Willing to travel to other S&C locations within/beyond the United States.
• Experience in chemical manufacturing or heavy manufacturing environments.
• Data analytics experience to identify correlations in data.
• Flexibility to work non-traditional hours.
• 2+ years in safety/environmental roles (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide Safety & Environmental guidance for programs including BBS, LERP, RCRA, Hazard Communication, LOTO, and NFPA 70E.
• Refine programs to improve effectiveness and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Track Federal, State and Local safety & environmental regulations and their impact.
• Interface with Operations and technical teams to meet objectives and drive actions.
• Coordinate facility audits, inspections, and observations; ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Develop safety and environmental training content and deliver via LMS.
• Perform ergonomic assessments and recommendations to improve operator safety.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on environmental initiatives.
