Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) invites interns/co-ops to join our Safety and Industrial Hygiene team. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support health, safety, and environmental hygiene across refining, midstream crude, and natural gas operations.

This internship emphasizes safety, environmental stewardship, integrity, and collaboration as you gain hands-on experience with audits, training, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Majors preferred include Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Management, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, and related EH&S fields.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) concurrent enrollment for the internship duration.
• Strong academic performance required.
• On-site work required for 40 hours per week.
• Valid driver’s license for work-related travel and reliable transportation to the site.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Support health, safety and security planning and compliance activities across refinery, midstream, and environmental hygiene areas.
• Assist professionals with audits, training programs, and incident investigations as part of HES&S projects.
• Participate in inspections, emergency preparedness, and government regulatory compliance efforts.
• Prepare reports and act as liaison with Marathon units to ensure safety standards are met.
