Summary

The primary purpose of the position is to provide expert professional safety and healthcare engineering consultation and evaluation to facility leadership, and supervision of employees within the Special Programs section of Engineering (Facility) Service, primarily focusing on Environment of Care.

Duties Include
  1. Manage data and coordinate input from multiple services related to the Environment of Care Program, maintaining the EOC dashboard and management plans for easy reporting and data updating.
  2. Ensure the medical center meets all aspects of the EOCC program through accountability and daily activities.
  3. Conduct formal surveillance rounds at intervals required by accreditation across the medical center, OPC, and CBOCs.
  4. Provide authoritative interpretations of Federal safety standards to resolve conflicts, especially where state policies conflict with Federal regulations.
  5. Communicate the relevance of proposed solutions to leadership, contributing to the success of the facility's safety goals.
  6. Work to eliminate redundancies and gaps in Safety programs, including Life Safety concerns related to NFPA standards.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship, background/security investigation, and other conditions as listed.
  • Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet all requirements by 07/30/2025. Basic requirements include a degree in Professional Engineering or equivalent, with specific coursework or registration as a Professional Engineer, plus one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or higher.

Specialized experience includes managing data, conducting surveillance, investigating hazards, applying safety engineering principles, and training others.

Physical Requirements

Work is sedentary with occasional walking and carrying light items up to 25 pounds.
