Job summary

Eurofins USA Consumer Product Testing in Irvine, CA is seeking a Safety Engineer (Household, AV/ICT) to assess products against national and international standards and to work closely with clients. The role includes developing test plans, preparing technical files, and supporting certification reports with occasional travel.

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics is required, with demonstrated safety testing experience in an NRTL, test lab, or manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or prior experience at a NRTL in AV/ICT/Household Testing Standards.
• Experience with safety standards such as UL/CSA/IEC 62368-1, 61010-1, 60335-1.
• Demonstrated safety experience in an NRTL, test lab, or manufacturer.

Responsibilities

• Assess products designed to national, regional and international standards.
• Prepare technical reports, technical files and certificates.
• Prepare test plans and work with the test engineer to conduct tests correctly and safely.
• Occasional testing at Eurofins labs or at customer sites.
• Provide technical advice meetings with clients.
• Occasional travel domestically or internationally.
• Prepare quotations in partnership with the sales team.

Safety Engineer (Household, AV/ICT) responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following

This is both a technical and client‑facing role that would suit someone who is currently working for a manufacturer of process or industrial equipment in a product design capacity or working for a certification body or test laboratory; and who is enthusiastic, pragmatic, and thorough and who enjoys being part of a small, growing team. Experience is preferred at this stage, but we are also willing to discuss other roles and opportunities with newly qualified candidates.

Senior roles may include responsibility for review of draft reports and mentoring trainee certification engineers.

• Assessment of products designed to national, regional and international standards.
• Preparation of technical reports, technical files and certificates.
• Preparation of test plans and working with the test engineer to conduct tests correctly and safely.
• Occasional conducting of tests either in the Eurofins labs or at customer sites.
• Technical advice meetings with clients.
• Occasional travel domestically or internationally.
• Preparation of quotations in partnership with the sales team.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or prior experience working at a NRTL in AV/ICT/Household Testing Standards.

Basic Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with safety standards to include, but not limited to: UL/CSA/IEC 62368-1, 61010-1, 60335-1.
• Demonstrated safety experience either from an NRTL, test lab, or manufacturer.
• An engineering associated educational background.
• Understanding basic safety testing along with self-sufficient capabilities to perform testing.
• Ability to communicate with clients and management efficiently.
• Attention to detail, following test procedures.
• Ability to move and set up test equipment.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Additional Information

Position is full-time, working Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Irvine, CA are encouraged to apply.
