Job summary

Eurofins USA Consumer Product Testing is seeking a Product Safety Engineer in Santa Clara, CA to lead safety testing of diverse products to meet IEC 60601-1, IEC 62368-1 and related standards. The role requires independent work, strong documentation, and client communication with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has a four-year engineering degree (or equivalent) and at least four years in product safety testing, with willingness to travel and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree – Engineering discipline or equivalent work experience, preferred.
• Minimum 2-year engineering degree required.
• Minimum 4 years of product safety experience in Testing, Inspection and Certification /NRTL lab is required.
• IEC 60601-1 and/or IEC 62368-1 required.
• IEC 60601-1 is plus to have.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute product safety testing plans.
• Perform tests per IEC standards (power input, leakage, dielectric, etc.).
• Read schematics and manufacturing instructions.
• Travel as needed.

Job Description

Product Safety Engineerresponsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Summary of duties:

Looking for Product Safety Engineer that has working knowledge within (IEC 62368-1 & IEC 61010-1 and some of its collateral. The engineer should be able to demonstrate working knowledge within the standards identified above. The project engineer should be able to work independently with some guidance as needed on a variety of products to the requirements of U.S., Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

• Require standard knowledge needed IEC 62368-1 and or IEC 61010-1.
• Engineer should be able to prep their Test Plans & execute on testing.
• The Engineer should be able to fill in there TRF pertaining to the above standards. Guidance will be provided as needed from senior engineers and management.
• Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
• Test products in accordance with standards and requirements. Core tests include, but are not limited to power input, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, stability, mechanical hazards, flammability, abnormal and single fault, IP testing and others as applicable per project and compliance requirements.
• Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions.
• Identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing and project execution.
• Perform preliminary design reviews (PDR) as they grow in their career.
• Communication with customers & sales on project status.

Additional Information
