Job summary

The Axel Group, LLC is seeking a Safety Engineer to join our client’s construction team. The role focuses on developing and enforcing safety programs across multiple project sites, aligning with OSHA standards and industry best practices.

You will conduct risk assessments, coordinate safety trainings, investigate incidents, and promote a culture of safety while traveling to various job sites. This role requires proactive identification of hazards and continuous improvement of safety practices on

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field required
  • Experience in construction safety with multiple sites strongly preferred
  • OSHA 30/OSHA 500, CHST or CSP or equivalent certifications are a plus
  • Proven ability to train and influence teams across site locations
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and safety protocols

Responsibilities

The Axel Group is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Safety Engineer to join our client’s construction team.

Our client is a leading specialty geotechnical contractor focused on ground improvement and soil stabilization. As a design-build firm, the engineers innovative solutions and executes field construction to enhance weak or unstable soils, making them safe to support construction projects without the need for expensive deep foundations. Their reliable ground improvement solutions help improve soil conditions, reduce settlement, increase load-bearing capacity, eliminate deep pile foundations, and significantly reduce construction time and costs for clients.

The Safety Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and policies to ensure a safe working environment across multiple project sites. This role requires proactive identification of potential hazards, enforcement of safety regulations, and continuous improvement of safety practices in compliance with OSHA standards.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough safety inspections and risk assessments at construction sites to identify hazards and unsafe practices.
  • Develop, review, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate safety training sessions and workshops for construction personnel, subcontractors, and management teams.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, records, and reports for audits and inspections.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to implement safety measures during all phases of construction.
  • Promote a safety-first culture by fostering awareness and accountability among all employees and stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on the latest safety regulations, industry trends, and technological advancements related to construction safety.
  • Travel to various project locations as needed to oversee safety practices and conduct on-site evaluations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field preferred.
  • Valid safety certifications such as OSHA 30-hour/ OSHA 500-hour, CHST or CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or other relevant credentials.
  • Proven experience (at least 3-5 years) in construction safety or a similar industry role.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, hazards, and risk management strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and influence teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills to identify hazards and develop mitigation measures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple job sites and work in outdoor and challenging environments.
