Job description

Sanmina Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM) is a leading integrated manufacturing solutions provider serving the fastest-growing segments of the global Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) market. Recognized as a technology leader, Sanmina Corporation provides end-to-end manufacturing solutions, delivering superior quality and support to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) primarily in the communications networks, defense and aerospace, industrial and semiconductor systems, medical, multimedia, computing and storage, automotive and clean technology sectors. Safety Engineer
Job Purpose:

The Safety Engineer serves as the primary operational engineer responsible for executing daily plant-floor safety engineering and hazard prevention controls. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, this role supports local facility ramp-up by evaluating technical processes, mitigating high-hazard mechanical and electrical risks, and ensuring strict regulatory adherence to foster a zero-harm safety culture.

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for an engineer with 2-4 years of experience looking to deepen their technical expertise across heavy manufacturing, continuous process operations, and industrial equipment execution.

Nature of Duties:
  • Engineering Audits & Hazard Analysis: Conduct daily plant-floor walkthroughs across fabrication, assembly, processing, and high-voltage testing operations to identify hazards and design engineered controls.
  • High-Hazard Safety Execution: Establish, review, and enforce site engineering safeguards for heavy manufacturing operations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash / NFPA 70E, overhead crane/jib equipment, heavy rigging, and fluid containment (SPCC).
  • Incident Investigation & Root Cause: Partner with the EHS & Quality Manager on root-cause analyses (8D, 5-Why) for near-misses or incidents; design and deploy engineering corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to mitigate plant risks.
  • Technical Onboarding & Safe Work Operations: Deliver technical safety orientations, lead shop-floor toolbox talks, and coordinate practical safe-work qualification programs (crane, LOTO, high-voltage/electrical safety).
  • Metrics & Regulatory Compliance: Track leading and lagging safety metrics (TRIR, DART, near-misses). Support OSHA 300 logs, SDS technical databases, and routine environmental oversight.
  • Continuous Safety Improvement: Lead plant safety committee meetings and collaborate with shop floor operators and quality engineers to continuously improve equipment safety controls.
Education and Experience:
  • Experience: 2-4 years of safety engineering or technical EHS experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, energy equipment, subsea/oil & gas equipment, or heavy machinery sectors. Ramp-up experience is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Safety Engineering) or Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Standards & Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910), basic high-voltage/electrical safe-work practices, and engineering root-cause frameworks (5-Why, PFMEA).
  • Certifications (Preferred): ASP (Associate Safety Professional), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
