Job summary

John Burns Construction is seeking a Safety Engineer to advance our safety program across projects in the Chicago area. You will support and enforce safety policies, conduct site inspections, and lead toolbox talks. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in construction safety, solid OSHA knowledge, and strong communication and leadership skills.

John Burns Construction is looking for a dedicated Safety Engineer to join our team and help drive our commitment to safety excellence across our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and enforce project-specific safety programs and policies
• Conduct jobsite safety inspections and audits
• Lead safety training and toolbox talks
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective action plans
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and client safety requirements
• Partner with field operations to identify and mitigate hazards before incidents occur

You Have:

• Experience - 3 - 5 years’ experience in a construction environment
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices
• Background in electrical safety and electrical construction environments preferred
• Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams to promote a proactive safety culture
