We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and oversee our company-wide safety program. This position will work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field crews to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of construction safety experience, with strong knowledge of underground utilities, drilling, excavation, trenching, heavy equipment, and construction operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the company's overall safety program.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections at active construction jobsites.
  • Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA, OSHA, DOT, and applicable customer/contract requirements.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct jobsite safety audits and provide corrective action recommendations.
  • Review and monitor JHAs, JSAs, safety plans, and daily safety documentation.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct employee safety orientations and training.
  • Monitor compliance with PPE, fall protection, trenching/excavation, traffic control, and equipment safety requirements.
  • Work with superintendents and foremen to address unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Maintain OSHA and safety records and ensure required reporting is completed timely.
  • Assist with workers' compensation claims and injury management.
  • Coordinate drug and alcohol testing programs as required.
  • Assist with customer and general contractor safety audits.
  • Monitor safety performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Keep management informed of safety issues, trends, incidents, and regulatory changes.
  • Travel to company jobsites and branch locations as needed.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of construction safety experience preferred.
  • Experience in underground utilities, HDD/directional drilling, excavation, trenching, paving, or heavy civil construction strongly preferred.

  • Ability to identify safety issues and confidently enforce company safety standards.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between jobsites.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for someone who is hands‑on and comfortable in the field, not someone who wants to manage safety strictly from an office. The successful candidate will be visible on our jobsites, build relationships with our crews, hold employees and supervisors accountable, and work with management to continuously improve our safety program.

Experience in underground construction and drilling is highly valued.

Compensation.

Salary: $125,000-$150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
