Job summary

Miller Bros. Const., Inc. is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support the implementation and daily management of safety programs across construction projects.

This role partners with project teams to ensure OSHA and MSHA compliance and promote a proactive safety culture. Hands-on field safety experience and strong communication are essential. The ideal candidate will bring experience in site safety, risk assessment, and safety training, with a commitment to continuous improvement and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in OH&S or related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of safety experience in heavy construction.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and MSHA standards.
  • First Aid/CPR certification; OSHA 30-hour preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining safety policies in OSHA/MSHA compliance.
  • Monitor and enforce job-site safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and report hazards.
  • Support safety documentation and compliance records.
  • Coordinate safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Assist with JHAs and risk assessments.

I. Summary

The Safety Coordinator supports the implementation and daily management of safety programs across public and private construction projects. This role works closely with project teams to ensure compliance with OSHA and MSHA regulations, reinforce safety best practices, and contribute to fostering a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on field safety experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

II. Essential Functions

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Assist in maintaining and implementing safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA, MSHA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor job-site compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, or areas of noncompliance.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports.

Safety Program Support

  • Support the implementation of safety initiatives and programs across multiple construction projects.
  • Participate in project safety meetings, toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and other field safety activities.
  • Assist project teams in developing and maintaining safe work practices for changing jobsite conditions.
  • Promote employee participation in safety programs and reinforce a proactive approach to hazard identification and prevention.

Risk Assessment & Incident Response

  • Assist the Safety Director and project teams with site-specific risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and other hazard identification activities.
  • Respond to incidents and assist with gathering information, documentation, and assist with root cause investigations.
  • Assist with tracking safety performance indicators and contribute to data-driven improvements.

Training & Employee Development

  • Assist with new employee safety orientations and onboarding.
  • Coordinate, conduct, and document safety training for field employees and project teams.
  • Support annual safety refresher training and job-specific training requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee safety training, certifications, and other required documentation.
  • Help reinforce safety expectations through regular field interaction, coaching, and communication.

Field Support & Communication

  • Serve as a field resource and liaison for safety-related matters between employees, subcontractors, project leadership, and the Safety Department.
  • Communicate safety observations, concerns, trends, and recommendations to the Safety Director and project leadership.
  • Build positive relationships with field personnel and encourage open communication regarding safety concerns.
  • Support project teams in maintaining a safe, professional, and productive work environment.
  • Promote MBC Holdings’ safety expectations and culture through consistent field presence and leadership.
III. Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of safety experience in heavy construction or industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and MSHA standards and general construction site safety practices.
  • Current certifications in First Aid/CPR, OSHA 30-Hour Construction (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage workers in fast-paced job-site environments.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office and safety management software.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel to project sites required.
  • Exposure to construction environments, including weather conditions, noise, and physical hazards.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Occasional long hours or weekend work based on project needs.
  • Must be comfortable working under pressure and responding quickly to on‑site safety needs.

IV. Environment or Physical Working Conditions

Ability to work under conditions of frequent exposure to dusty conditions and the full range of weather conditions.
