Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. is seeking a Safety Coordinator to oversee and improve the facility's safety programs and initiatives. You will inspect operations, lead training, manage OSHA reporting, and coordinate safety committees to reduce risks.

The role requires OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, and experience in safety management within manufacturing or building materials. Excellent communication and attention to detail are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school graduate.
• 0–2 years in safety or woodworking operations.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• OSHA-related training or safety certification.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Experience with safety management systems.
• Experience leading safety training or meetings.
• Experience with incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
• Manufacturing, construction, lumber or building-materials experience.

Responsibilities

• Regularly inspects operations to ensure safe practices and PPE use.
• Investigates accidents/near-misses and implements corrective actions.
• Develops safety programs and incentives with management.
• Conducts new hire safety training and policy briefings.
• Provides training on machinery operation and safety.
• Chairs the Safety Committee.
• Maintains first aid/CPR inventory and medical supplies.
• Coordinates forklift training and annual safety tours.
• Monitors hearing conservation program.
• Coordinates medical restriction work duties.
• Communicates with management, HR, and claims administrators.
• Maintains OSHA 300 log and reports.
• Prepares routine and special safety reports.
• Performs other duties as required.

Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and supervision of the facility's safety programs and initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Regularly inspects facility operations to ensure that safe job practices are followed, protective equipment is properly utilized, and all required machine/process guards are in place and operational
• Investigates and facilitate the investigation of all accidents and near-miss occurrences identify trends and causes and ensures that corrective measures are implemented
• Works with management to develop safety programs and incentives as appropriate
• Conducts new hire training and ensures new employees understand safety practices and policies
• Provides training to employees on the safe and appropriate operation of machinery and equipment
• Chairs the Safety Committee
• Ensures the facility maintains the proper number of personnel trained in first aid and CPR and that the required level of safety and medical supplies are maintained in inventory
• Conducts and certifies all forklift training
• Coordinates annual fire inspection tours and planned/unplanned tours by other safety and health regulatory agencies
• Monitors facility hearing conservation program
• Coordinates work duties for employees on medical restrictions
• Maintains appropriate communication with immediate management, Human Resources, and third-party claims administrators
• Maintains OSHA 300 log and other required reports
• Prepares regular and special reports as required
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

• Minimum high school graduate
• Minimum zero to two years of experience in safety or woodworking operations
• Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications Excel, Word and Outlook
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• OSHA-related training or safety certification.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Experience with safety management systems.
• Experience leading safety training or employee safety meetings.
• Experience with incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
• Manufacturing, construction, lumber, or building-materials experience.

Compensation & Benefit Information:

Hourly/Salary Pay Range: $30 - $35 hourly dependent on experience

*pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living

Bonus/Incentive Pay

Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
