Job summary

Hatched Recruitment Group is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support project teams on active construction sites in a field‑focused role.

You will gain hands‑on experience with underground construction safety, OSHA requirements, trenching, tunneling and safety documentation while working alongside crews and supervisors.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of underground construction experience.
  • OSHA 10‑Hour Construction or General Industry certification.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA standards.
  • Interest in developing a long‑term career in construction safety.
  • Willingness to work primarily in active field environments.
  • Ability to identify hazards and communicate concerns clearly.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain reports.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible safety presence across active construction sites.
  • Conduct routine jobsite inspections and identify unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Support identification and correction of hazards in underground construction.
  • Gain exposure to trenching, excavation, confined‑space, tunneling and underground utility activities.
  • Participate in job hazard analyses, pre‑task planning meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Support safety orientations and reinforce safe working practices across project teams.
  • Assist with inspections of PPE, tools, ladders, fall‑protection systems and other safety equipment.
  • Communicate safety concerns to supervisors and project leadership.
  • Support incident, injury and near‑miss investigations and maintain safety records.

Job description

Are you looking to build a long-term career in construction safety while gaining hands‑on experience on complex underground projects?

We are working with a specialist heavy civil and underground construction contractor looking to appoint a Safety Coordinator to support project teams across active construction sites.

This is a field-focused position where you will spend the majority of your time working alongside crews, supervisors and project teams. You will gain exposure to a range of challenging construction activities while developing your knowledge of construction safety, OSHA requirements and underground operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of the safety team, you will:

  • Maintain a visible safety presence across active construction sites.
  • Conduct routine jobsite inspections and identify unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Support the identification and correction of hazards associated with underground construction.
  • Gain exposure to trenching, excavation, confined‑space, tunneling and underground utility activities.
  • Participate in job hazard analyses, pre-task planning meet
  • ings and toolbox talks.
  • Support safety orientations and help reinforce safe working practices across project teams.
  • Assist with inspections of PPE, tools, ladders, fall‑protection systems and other safety equipment.
  • Communicate safety concerns to supervisors and project leadership.
  • Support incident, injury and near‑miss investigations.
  • Maintain inspection records, training documentation, permits and other safety‑related paperwork.
  • Assist with confined‑space documentation and atmospheric monitoring.
  • Participate in emergency‑response planning, safety meetings and drills.
  • Build strong working relationships with field crews, supervisors and project teams.
What We’re Looking For

Additional experience or certifications in OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, trenching and excavation, confined‑space entry or competent‑person training would be beneficial but are not essential.
