Safety Coordinator
Since 1963, Sheakley has been a trusted leader in safety management outsourcing. We are seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator to support our client in the Columbus, OH area. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, solutions-driven safety professional with a strong background in construction to make a lasting impact.
Location: Columbus, OH
Start Date: May 5, 2025
Type: Direct Hire (W2) - Full Benefits
Salary: $80,000 annually (Hourly position - overtime eligible)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week (occasional weekend work with OT)
Travel: No overnight travel
Additional Benefits: Company truck and gas card provided

Project Scope
The Safety Coordinator will oversee safety operations for a mechanical contractor on multiple construction projects across the Columbus market. This role offers a clear path for growth, with plans to promote the right candidate to Safety Manager over the Columbus region after several years of strong performance.
Certifications Required
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
Experience Required
3-5 years of field safety experience in the construction industry
Key Responsibilities
Ensure job sites are equipped with and utilizing proper PPE
Use ToolWatch to manage and inspect safety equipment
Coordinate employee safety training with Safety Managers
Deliver training sessions tailored to specific job functions and site needs
Maintain accurate safety documentation and training records
Monitor job sites for hazards and enforce all safety protocols
Implement corrective measures for safety risks and compliance issues
Advise teams on best practices for safe equipment use and hazard avoidance
Provide safety guidance and direction to field teams (no direct supervisory duties)
Skills and Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable safety standards
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
Bilingual (English/Spanish) but not required
Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record
