Job summary

Service Steel Aerospace in Santa Fe Springs, CA, seeks a Safety Coordinator to lead OSHA/cal/OSHA compliance, safety programs, and fleet safety across California operations. You will develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, conduct audits, investigations, and training to prevent injuries and incidents.

You will collaborate with management and frontline teams to identify hazards, coordinate safety meetings, and ensure regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• OSHA & Cal/OSHA compliance required
• OSHA 30 training credentials
• Forklift/Powered Industrial Truck trainer certification
• First Aid/CPR/AED
• DOT/FMCSA compliance training
• Able to comply with company safety standards

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer company safety policies, programs, and procedures in compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, FMCSA, and applicable California regulations.
• Conduct routine facility inspections, JHAs, and safety audits throughout the warehouse, processing, shipping, receiving, and fleet operations.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of steel distribution center operations, including material handling, overhead cranes, forklifts, loading and unloading procedures, rigging, storage systems, and steel processing equipment.
• Lead accident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate safety meetings, toolbox talks, employee orientations, and ongoing safety training programs.
• Conduct new employee safety onboarding and annual compliance training.
• Monitor contractor safety compliance while working on company property.
• Partner with supervisors to identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Participate in emergency response planning, drills, and crisis management activities.
• Maintain compliance with environmental health and safety requirements as applicable.
• Stay current on changes to OSHA, Cal/OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and California employment safety regulations.
• Fleet Safety Responsibilities: manage fleet safety program for vehicles in CA; monitor driver qualification files, MVRs, licensing, medical certifications, and Hours of Service; coordinate inspections and maintenance; investigate accidents and implement corrective actions; monitor telematics and driver behavior; ensure cargo securement compliance.
