Environmental Health & Safety Specialist - Russellville, Alabama

We are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our team in Russellville, Alabama. The role involves ensuring workplace safety, conducting hazard analyses, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations.

1. Responsibilities include:

• Assist in managing the accident and illness programs, conducting hazard and risk analyses, and ensuring timely completion of safety tasks.
• Prepare regular safety and health reports for senior management and assist management in understanding safety roles and activities.
• Support the Workers' Compensation Program and act as an advisor to management and the Occupational Health Department.
• Work with the Plant Safety Committee and assist in implementing new safety and health management systems.
• Maintain accident records, investigate incidents, and oversee corrective measures.
• Conduct monthly safety training for supervisors and departmental staff, and promote safety awareness among employees.
• Perform weekly safety inspections, identify unsafe practices, and assist with exposure control, hazard communication, respiratory protection, and hearing conservation programs.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and company policies related to safety and health.
• Assist in setting standards for personal protective equipment and machine guarding, and collaborate on ergonomics programs.
• Review and inspect new or modified equipment before operation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Certified Safety Professional preferred.
• At least five years of related experience in a poultry or meat processing plant.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in adverse conditions and flexible hours as needed.

Educational Requirements:

A college degree is required. Equivalent relevant experience may be substituted for the degree.
