Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Safety Specialist to lead and enforce safety guidelines across airport operations in Virginia. You will oversee adherence to procedures, perform risk assessments, and support incident investigations while coordinating with leadership and training teams.

The role requires strong communication, presentation skills, and the ability to analyze safety metrics, develop corrective actions, and ensure compliance with company and FAA requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years related experience or training.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop strong internal working relationships and present analyses.
• Experience with safety metrics and data-driven improvements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee adherence to safety procedures in airport operations.
• Performs routine inspection of airplane turnarounds, baggage handling, cleaning, and cargo services activity.
• Perform risk assessments as required.
• Conduct safety observations and provide corrective action to mitigate hazards and risks.
• Enter inspections and incidents into the database, issue weekly incident report lists and assist in developing safety related reports.
• Advise leadership on trends and provide solution-based recommendations to maintain a safe operational environment.
• Support incident investigations and claims reporting.
• Support safety initiatives and procedural requirements to ensure workforce behaviours are compliant with company expectations.
• Coordinate with station trainer to ensure training compliance
• Will be a super-user for the safety hub database entering incident, compliance and corrective action information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Education

Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years' related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Possess/maintain a valid state driver's license and other FAA/Airport required identification/seals or authorizations.
