Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Safety Coordinator for our Taylorsville, MS plywood facility. Under the Safety Manager, you will help reduce risks and strengthen safety processes across a high‑volume operation, working closely with operations and site leadership.

You will implement safety programs, conduct and support incident investigations, perform hazard assessments, and coordinate with digital safety tools such as TRAX and iNet. Strong communication and prioritization are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Experience contributing to facility safety programs (committees, specialized groups, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the compliance system model at the site, assisting employees in the development and implementation of fundamental safety programs (critical hazards).
  • Conduct or assist in incident investigations involving high-potential events or conditions.
  • Perform hazard identification risk assessments and evaluate risk in existing and future equipment, processes, and operations.
  • Lead corrective action development and completion for identified gaps.
  • Assist in managing digital safety tools, including TRAX, ISNetworld, SpheraCloud, iNet, or similar platforms.
  • Ensure new hires receive comprehensive safety onboarding using company standards.
  • Provide occasional support for off-shifts as needed (not a regular rotating schedule).
  • Partner with operations to identify hazards and help reduce critical risks through proactive problem-solving.
  • Manage multiple safety projects and initiatives simultaneously, ensuring effective prioritization and timely completion.
  • Communicate safety expectations, findings, and updates effectively with employees, contractors, and site leadership.

Under the direction of the facility's Safety Manager, the Safety Coordinator will play an integral role in supporting efforts to reduce critical risks and hazards, identify gaps, and strengthen safety processes.

In this role, you will directly influence risk-reduction strategies across a high-volume plywood operation and collaborate closely with both operations and site leadership.

What You Will Do

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience contributing to facility safety programs (committees, specialized groups, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external partners.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience supporting safety programs in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Active involvement as a Compliance System Owner (CSO) or CSO team member.
  • Experience using TRAX, GoCanvas, Save My Life app, or Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Any Plywood process or Georgia-Pacific experience.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree.
