Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking an Operations Manager at the Taylorsville, MS Plywood location. As Operations Manager, you will drive operational excellence, safety, and team development at our plywood manufacturing facility. You’ll lead a dynamic team, set a vision for safety and performance, and advance Georgia-Pacific’s goals through continuous improvement and a commitment to Principle-Based Management®.

What You Will Do
  • Champion a culture of injury-free, incident-free operations by modeling and reinforcing Georgia-Pacific’s Consistently apply PBM® principles in all aspects of operations.
  • Optimize production processes using the Machine Paced Operation (MPO) Process System. Strive for efficiency, reliability, and maximum value creation for the business.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing operations team. Facilitate team growth, conduct regular performance reviews, and manage change to ensure team alignment and engagement.
  • Oversee facility financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic reviews. Use data to drive business decisions and achieve key performance objectives.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing tools, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and preventive/predictive maintenance planning to identify opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Build a culture of ownership by recognizing contributions, addressing missed opportunities, and ensuring accountability at all levels.
  • Fully utilize work process systems to develop job plans, monitor completion, and promote proactive maintenance and reliability initiatives.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in industrial, manufacturing, or military environments
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel; able to quickly learn new production/operations software
  • Willingness and ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment (noisy, temperature variable)
  • Proven experience in employee performance management and change management
  • Experience formulating business improvement strategies that achieve results
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, wood science, industrial management, or a related field
  • Prior experience in Lean Manufacturing and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Experience in wood products or similar manufacturing environments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude in an industrial setting
