Job summary

CS Erickson is seeking a Safety Coordinator to promote and maintain a culture of safety across our construction projects in the DFW area. You will work closely with project managers, field personnel, and subcontractors to implement robust safety programs, train staff, and drive compliance with OSHA standards.

Daily travel to job sites is required, and you will develop site-specific Safe Work Plans, perform inspections, investigate incidents, and report safety metrics to management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or equivalent is required.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification or similar is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in safety coordination in construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and NFPA standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and standards including OSHA requirements.
  • Safety Policies and Procedures: Develop, implement, and review safety policies and guidelines across operations.
  • Training and Education: Conduct safety training programs for employees and subcontractors.
  • HSE Project Development: Work with Site Superintendents to deliver site-specific requirements and Safe Work Plans.
  • Inspections and Audits: Perform site inspections and audits, document findings, and drive corrective actions.
  • Incident Reporting and Investigation: Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures.
  • Travel: Daily travel within the DFW area to job sites for assurance.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Promote safety awareness and participation in initiatives.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain safety records and produce safety metrics reports.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and improve safety programs.

About the role

As the Safety Coordinator at CS Erickson, you will play a critical role in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety within the organization. You will work closely with project managers, field personnel, and subcontractors to implement effective safety programs and practices.

What you'll do
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, codes, and standards, including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirements and industry-specific guidelines.
  • Safety Policies and Procedures:, implement, and review safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to establish best practices across all company operations.
  • Training and Education: Conduct safety training programs for employees and subcontractors, including new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and specialized training on topics such as fall protection, electrical safety, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • HSE Project Development: Engage with Site Superintendents to deliver site specific requirements. Assist in the development of the Site-Specific Safe Work Plan. Assure the plans implementation on the jobsite.
  • Inspections and Audits: Perform regular inspections and audits of job sites, equipment, and work processes to identify potential hazards, non‑compliance issues, and areas for improvement. Document findings, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely implementation.
  • Incident Reporting and Investigation: Promptly investigate and report all incidents, accidents, and near misses. Collaborate with project teams to identify root causes, develop corrective actions, and implement preventive measures to minimize the risk of recurrence.
  • The position will be for the DFW area primarily and will require DAILY TRAVEL to the areas job sites to provide assurance.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization by promoting awareness, accountability, and participation in safety initiatives. Encourage employees to actively report safety concerns, hazards, and near misses. Support safety campaigns and initiatives.
  • Safety Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, including training records, safety data sheets, inspection reports, incident logs, and safety program documentation. Prepare reports on safety metrics, trends, and compliance for management review.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to safety. Recommend and implement improvements to existing safety programs and initiatives based on emerging risks and technological advancements.
Qualifications
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or equivalent time in field.
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification or similar are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in safety coordination, preferably in the electrical contracting or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards, and other relevant safety codes and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with employees, subcontractors, and management.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
  • Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • 3 to 5 years of construction related experience
  • Will drive 70% of the time within the DFW area
