Job description

General Purpose

The EH&S Coordinator is responsible for leading, developing, and executing the company’s safety strategy across projects and operational areas. This role provides leadership to project teams, and operations management to ensure consistent implementation of safety programs, regulatory compliance, and a strong, proactive safety culture.

The EH&S Coordinator serves as a key partner to operations, driving accountability, standardization, and continuous improvement in safety performance while aligning project efforts with corporate EH&S objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Safety Leadership and Strategy
  • Lead the implementation of corporate safety initiatives, policies, and procedures across assigned projects and locations.
  • Develop and execute safety strategies aligned with company goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide direct coaching and mentoring to all project personnel.
  • Establish clear expectations for safety performance and accountability at all levels of the project.
Safety Compliance and Oversight
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations across assigned projects.
  • Oversee and participate in site inspections, audits, and assessments to ensure consistent safety execution.
  • Ensure project teams and subcontractors adhere to company safety standards and contractual requirements.
  • Identify systemic risks and implement corrective actions across multiple sites.
Training and Workforce Development
  • Oversee and support delivery of safety orientations, leadership training, and workforce development programs.
  • Ensure consistency in safety training content and messaging across the project.
  • Mentor project managers, superintendents, and field leaders on safety leadership and engagement.
  • Promote a culture of hazard recognition, prevention, and accountability.
Incident Management and Risk Reduction
  • Lead, facilitate, and manage investigations of serious incidents, high-potential near misses, and trends within the region.
  • Ensure root cause analysis is conducted effectively and corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Analyze incident data and trends to proactively reduce risk and prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with operations to drive accountability for incident prevention and response.
Documentation, Reporting, and Metrics
  • Oversee the collection, accuracy, and analysis of safety data including inspections, audits, training, and incidents.
  • Report safety performance to Project leadership, including leading and lagging indicators.
  • Utilize data to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to clients and other project essential personnel.
Operational Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Operations Managers to integrate safety into all phases of work.
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex or high-risk activities.
  • Act as the primary safety liaison between field operations and corporate leadership within the region.
Subcontractor and Client Engagement
  • Ensure subcontractor prequalification, onboarding, and compliance with company safety expectations.
  • Support development and review of subcontractor safety documentation such as Site-Specific Safety Plans and JHAs.
  • Interface with clients to ensure alignment with their safety requirements and expectations.
  • Represent the company in client meetings, audits, and safety reviews.
Continuous Improvement and Culture Development
  • Drive continuous improvement of safety systems, processes, and field execution.
  • Identify and implement best practices across the region.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks.
  • Champion initiatives that strengthen safety culture, engagement, and ownership at all levels.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction certification (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of construction safety experience, with leadership or multi-site oversight experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Travel Requirement

This position requires frequent travel between jobsites within the assigned region. Extended overnight stays are expected.

Physical Requirements

Will frequently sit, use hands/fingers, talk/hear. Will frequently stand, walk, grasp, reach with hands/arms, bend/stoop/kneel/squat/crawl. Lift up to 30 lbs. Near vision and ability to adjust focus required.

Work Environment

Will frequently work in both office and construction site environments. Jobsite conditions include moderate noise levels and exposure to typical construction hazards. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
