Job summary

A leading company in precast concrete manufacturing is seeking a Safety Coordinator to oversee safety functions and employee safety training. Qualifications

POSITION : Safety Coordinator

This job description reflects a general assignment of essential functions; it does not include or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES :

Under general supervision, this position will perform Safety functions toward the overall goal of zero worker incidents and injuries, and performs related work as required or assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

Ensure a safe and healthy working environment

Ensure the company complies with all environmental laws and regulations

Maintain the lowest possible potential for fire within the company’s property

Develop, implement, and maintain programs to identify and correct unsafe conditions

Provide oversight of programs through personal on-site inspections

Respond to, investigate, resolve and document employee safety concerns

Completes job hazard analysis, root cause analysis, near miss, post incident investigation and reporting

Maintain all employee training and first aid documentation

Organize a forum for active employee participation in all areas of safety

Administer appropriate first aid to employees

Manage departmental budget

Contribute to the team effort

Maintain safety and first aid supplies, equipment and software

Secure confidential and intellectual information

Perform all occupational safety and hazard procedures in conjunction with all essential duties

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

Knowledge of :

Environmental / public health

OSHA standards, requirements and reporting

Compliance with, and enforcement of, applicable Federal and State Regulations and Laws, including recordkeeping

The manufacture of precast / prestressed concrete

Coreslab policies

Operational procedures as related to Safety

Occupational hazards and proper safety precautions

Skills in : Employee relations

Leadership and organization

Microsoft Word and Excel

Oral and written communication (English and Spanish)

Time management and prioritization

Ability to :

Monitor employee and workplace moral

Maintain positive and professional customer service

Follow oral and written instruction

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees

Communicate effectively and at an appropriate level for this classification

Contribute to operational development

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Employees may be exposed to :

moving mechanical / electrical parts and equipment

fumes or airborne particles

vibration

metal preservatives

oils and greases

loud noises

heat / cold / wet conditions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or twist; talk and hear, see and focus. The employee must regularly lift and / or move heavy objects, up to and exceeding 50 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

5 – years of progressive safety experience, must have successfully completed OSHA 30 hr training course, successfully completed and is current with CPR, or equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities of this classification. Must be able to work overtime on short notice, which could exceed 8 hours per shift and / or 40 hours per work week.
