Forman Glass is seeking a safety-oriented individual to join our growing company. Individual will perform technical activities including work site assessments, employee education and training, and provide guidance on worker safety, health concerns and techniques. This role requires a strong understanding of safety regulations, training methodologies, and the ability to create a culture of safety awareness.
Position is full time 30-40 hours per week
- Develop, implement, and manage safety programs based on the specific needs and risks of the organization. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits to identify potential workplace safety issues including fall protection, silica, noise, etc.
- Conduct safety training and educational programs on personal protective equipment, hearing conservation, hazard communication, and recognition of ergonomic concerns. Training includes emphasis on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and job-specific skills.
- Prepare reports, safety submittals including crane/rigging plans, and other deliverables while managing priorities and multiple deadlines.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses. Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Stay current with industry best practices and regulations to ensure training programs remain current, relevant, and effective.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory requirements and can be readily accessed for audits.
- Communicate safety-related information to all levels of the organization, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to keep employees informed and engaged in safety initiatives.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
- Participate in MIOSHA partnerships and ABC Safety Committee meetings.
What we are seeking:
- A degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field is preferred
- 2-5 years of direct experience in safety and training is required, preferably in construction
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and schedules
- Strong sense of time organization and urgency
- Able to work successfully on a team and equally well as an individual
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams)
Certificates, Licenses and Specialized Training:
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- OSHA 30 certification
- Forklift certification preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- PPE training desirable
