Job summary

Drill Tech Drilling & Shoring, Inc. in Kiowa, CO (Denver Area) is seeking a Safety Engineer/Safety Coordinator for an onsite, full-time role with travel to project sites.

You will implement safety protocols, oversee company and project safety plans, perform jobsite inspections, train field staff, and assist management with risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety documentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years relatable construction safety experience; experience with scopes of work preferred.
  • Strong communication skills in both field and office environments
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Desirable OSHA 30/HAZWPR training, advanced first aid & CPR training
  • CHST certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Implement safety protocols and requirements.
  • Oversee and administer company-based and project-based safety protocols and measures.
  • Perform and document periodic jobsite safety inspections and audits.
  • Coordinate with field staff to verify compliance with daily safety documentation.
  • Travel to projects in multiple states to train field staff, inspect practices, and provide safety support.
  • Provide risk assessment for tasks and develop mitigation plans with management.
  • Assist Project Management with Project Specific Safety Plans.
  • Administer and document safety training for staff.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents and report findings.
  • Keep records of safety activities and training for compliance.

Drill Tech Drilling & Shoring, Inc. (DTDS) is a design-build contractor specializing in the construction of earth retention systems, soil stabilizations, drilled foundations, landslide remediation, and tunnel and shaft construction. DTDS's 10 subsidiary companies possess a wide range of expertise including marine construction, rockfall mitigation, microtunneling, and other specialty services. Position Summary

We are looking for a Safety Engineer/Safety Coordinator to work from our Kiowa, CO office (Denver Area). This is an onsite, full-time position with responsibilities that may arise outside standard work hours, with frequent travel to project sites required. Strong work ethic, organizational skills, leadership capabilities, and ability to multi-task are a must for successful candidates.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for implementing all required safety protocols and requirements.
  • Oversee and administer company-based and project-based safety protocols and measures.
  • Perform and document periodic jobsite safety inspections and audits
  • Coordinate with field staff to verify compliance with daily safety documentation and protocols.
  • Travel to projects in multiple states to train field staff, inspect work practices, and provide safety support.
  • Provide risk assessment for various tasks and operations at jobsite locations. Identify potential risks and work with Project and Field Management staff to develop plans and strategies to mitigate the risks.
  • Assist Project Management staff with preparation of Project Specific Safety Plans.
  • Administer and document safety training for staff.
  • In the event of an accident or incident, assist in the investigation of the cause, determine preventative measures, and report findings.
  • Keep detailed records of safety-related activities, incidents, and training to ensure compliance and track safety performance.
  • Communicate actively with management, employees, and external regulatory bodies to ensure safety concerns are addressed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years relatable construction safety experience; experience with scopes of work performed by Drill Tech preferred.
  • Strong communication skills in both field and office environments
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Strong computer and technical skills; working knowledge and capabilities for modern I-Phones and work-related apps, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 regulations
  • Desirable to have OSHA 30 training, OSHA 40-hr HAZWPR training, advanced first aid & CPR training.
  • Desirable to have advanced knowledge of fall protection, LOTO, trenching and excavation, rigging, confined space work environments, crane use, etc.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification is a plus
