Job summary

National Safety Consulting is seeking a qualified Safety Professional to support client operations in the Chicago, Illinois area. The Safety Professional will provide onsite safety support and work directly with project management, supervision, and field personnel to promote a safe and compliant work environment.

This role requires a strong working knowledge of construction safety practices, OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, and field-level safety management, with responsibilities including

Qualifications

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification is required.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification is required.
• At least one of these BCSP certifications must be held: ASP, CSP, or CHST.
• Experience with construction safety best practices and OSHA standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite safety oversight and support for construction operations.
• Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and observations.
• Identify unsafe conditions and communicate corrective actions to project leadership.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, client safety programs, and project requirements.
• Assist with incident investigations, documentation, and corrective action follow-up.
• Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
• Review JHAs/JSAs and safety-related documentation.
• Maintain accurate safety reports, inspection records, and project documentation.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and field employees.
• Serve as a safety resource to proactively identify and address hazards.

Minimum Qualifications

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction
• Current First Aid/CPR certification
• Must hold at least one of the following BCSP certifications:
• Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
• Previous construction safety experience.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and industry best practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with employees at all levels of a project.
• Ability to perform field inspections in active construction environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting large commercial, industrial, or heavy construction projects.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and safety training.
• Experience working directly with general contractors, subcontractors, and project owners.
