Job summary

Egan Company in Champlin, MN seeks a Safety Coordinator to join our safety team. You will engage staff and craft to conduct training, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and partner with project teams in the field to maintain a strong safety culture.

You will lead safety training, perform site visits, and drive continuous improvement in safety practices across Twin Cities projects. This role offers a hybrid work model and a commitment to safety excellence.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field preferred.
  • 1+ year of safety experience in construction or related industry.
  • Alternatively, 5+ years of trades experience with safety understanding.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; travel to sites; company vehicle provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety support with travel to Rochester and potential project-related travel.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and additional specialized safety training.
  • Attend and participate in project daily safety planning and toolbox talks.
  • Develop field and trades personnel through coaching and training activities.
  • Engage with field and shop employees on safety policies and practices.
  • Partner with Field Leaders and Superintendents to mitigate safety risks.
  • Create and deliver training opportunities for all employees.
  • Visit job sites and evaluate employee exposure and practices.
  • Inspect safety of tools and equipment (ladders, scaffolding, fall protection).
  • Perform incident investigations and document corrective actions.
  • Serve as on-site safety contact at customer sites on rotation.

Egan Company is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our team in Champlin, Minnesota. The Safety Coordinator will play an integral role in Egan's safety culture by engaging our staff and craft to conduct training, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and procedures, and serving as a key partner to project teams in the field. Responsibilities
  • Provide company safety support with occasional travel to Rochester and potential project-related travel outside of the greater Twin Cities area.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and additional specialized safety training.
  • Attend and participate in project daily safety planning and toolbox talks.
  • Develop field and trades personnel through coaching, feedback, and continuous training activities to assist in building the skills necessary to execute work safely.
  • Engage regularly with field and shop employees to educate workers on company’s safety policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Partner with Field Leaders and Superintendents to identify and mitigate potential safety risks.
  • Create and deliver training opportunities to all levels of employees.
  • Visit job sites and customer sites regularly; perform frequent job site evaluations, determine employee exposure(s) and institute acceptable work practices.
  • Inspect safety of tools and equipment; ladders, scaffolding, fall protection, rigging, grinders.
  • Perform incident investigations, document and create corrective actions that satisfy safety and operations lessons learned.
  • Serve as the on-site safety contact at customer sites with long-term projects, as part of a rotation with members of the safety team.
  • Build relationships with staff and tradespeople to further enhance our culture and execution of work safely.
  • Explore, research, and adapt new products, programs and/or technology that will improve the company’s safety performance.
  • Champion Egan’s Mission, Vision, and Values; lead by example.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field is preferred.
  • 1+ year of safety experience in construction or related industry.
  • Alternatively, 5+ years of trades experience with a demonstrated understanding of safety protocols and practices.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, as the role will require travel to various sites on a regular basis; A company vehicle will be provided as part of this position.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to navigate and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Ability to work primarily throughout the Twin Cities, while also being willing to support needs in Rochester, Kasson and other project locations.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel overnight and out of state.
Working Conditions
  • Performance of duties will be in an office environment with regular visits to shops and job sites.
  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement after 180 days of employment and up to manager discretion.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to loud noise, dirt, and exposure to the elements.
  • Climbing ladders/stairs, uneven ground, bending, kneeling, and twisting are to be expected on job sites.

Pay Range: $60,000-$85,000 (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set) plus potential annual discretionary bonus. A company vehicle will be provided for this role.

Hybrid: This role is eligible for our hybrid work model. To ensure a strong start, we ask for a minimum of 90-180 days in the office at the start to wrap your arms around the role, build essential in-person connections, and gain the organizational knowledge needed for success before transitioning to our hybrid schedule.
