Job summary

KODIAK Construction Recruiting & Staffing is seeking a Safety Coordinator / Field Safety Representative for project sites with travel. You will maintain a world-class safety culture, conduct field inspections, coach personnel, and drive continuous improvement across multiple sites.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and hands-on safety leadership to partner with management, craft teams, and clients while promoting proactive safety practices on site.

Qualifications

• Require High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of construction safety experience.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction Standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily field safety inspections and audits.
• Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.
• Lead and facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations.

Position Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and maintaining a world-class safety culture across assigned construction projects. This position works closely with project management, craft personnel, subcontractors, and clients to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and site-specific safety requirements.

The successful candidate will serve as a visible field presence, proactively identifying hazards, coaching personnel, conducting inspections, facilitating training, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.

Pay Rate: $38-41hr (DOE)

Per Diem: $150/day Available

Schedule: 13 Days On / 1 Day Off

Location: Project Site (Travel Required)

Reports To: Project Safety Manager / Regional Safety Manager

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct daily field safety inspections and audits.
• Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and implement corrective actions.
• Lead and facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, client, and company safety requirements.
• Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and Safe Work Permits.
• Monitor high-risk activities including:
• Confined Space Entry
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
• Hot Work
• Excavation & Trenching
• Critical Lifts
• Fall Protection
• Energized Electrical Work
• Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage events.
• Prepare incident reports and root cause analyses.
• Track corrective actions and verify closure.
• Conduct subcontractor safety evaluations and compliance reviews.
• Maintain site safety documentation, training records, and inspection logs.
• Participate in client safety meetings and audits.
• Assist project leadership in developing site‑specific safety plans.
• Promote a positive safety culture through coaching and mentoring rather than enforcement alone.
• Support emergency response planning and drills.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of construction, industrial, refinery, petrochemical, power, or oil & gas safety experience.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction Standards.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to influence safe behaviors at all organizational levels.
• Experience conducting field audits and incident investigations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
• OSHA 30 Construction Certification.
• CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician).
• CSP (Certified Safety Professional).
• STSC or OHST certifications.
• First Aid / CPR / AED Certification.
• Experience with ISNetworld, Veriforce, Avetta, or client contractor-management systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods.
• Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and elevated work platforms.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, FR clothing, gloves, and fall protection equipment.
